Hammerhead Jetty, near Coast Road, West Mersea, 2017

We decided that there was room for a few more recordings, specifically targeting areas that are unrepresented so far on our Essex Sounds map. Near the top of the list is Mersea Island, and I just so happened to be visiting West Mersea on a windy and cold December’s day, with the intention of getting some lunch at the Company Shed. My friend also informed me that during the summer this place would be heaving with people using the jetty for fishing, crabbing and a plethora of boating activities, so I’m intending to return to the same spot and record a comparison recording on a sunny day later in the year.
