Birds beside Doctors Pond, Great Dunmow
Stuart Bowditch
Doctors Pond, Great Dunmow
Second port of call on my trip out west was Great Dunmow, and after driving around for a bit I saw a rather enticing lake down the bottom of a trafficless lane. So I parked up and headed down to Doctors Pond where there were many ducks, geese and moor hens, many of them youngsters. Shame that the traffic on North Street was pretty loud with the many ‘Don’s of Dunmow’ buses taking the children to school. You do hear some sort of excitement from the birds however as a lady brings what looks like a whole loaf of bread shredded into chunks (yes, I know it’s bad for them!) and tips it in to the water.
