Gallows Green Road, Lindsell, 2018
Whilst exploring the countryside and myriad of lanes north of Dunmow I saw a large flock of jackdaws, which also contained a few crows. They were making a cacophonous noise and something was certainly upsetting them. So I parked at the nearest available spot which unfortunately was a fair distance away and set up the recording kit. Trying to take stock of the situation I noticed a large buzzard circling overhead, which had a seagull pestering it continuously. Whenever the buzzard went near to the corvids they would react by taking briefly to the air and squawking vociferously. The recording doesn’t really capture the moment very well as I was too far from the action but you can hear a tractor working in the distance, some activity at Priors Hall Farm and the occasional delivery lorry passing by.
