Leigh Library Gardens birds, 2018
Spring Equinox this year is March 20th, 4.16 in the afternoon. Before The Beast from The East and freezing weather I’d already seen a frog (squashed flat but a frog), and some other signs of the change of season. There was even more of it afterwards, this Friday (the 16th) particularly, blossom had started to come out and in The Library Gardens it even sounded like spring.
In this recording, 1 o’clock in the afternoon there are various birds, the crows had been nearby but flew off to the tower block, magpies and others I’m not so sure of, there was also a squirrel rustling in the undergrowth nearby. All a bit premature because we had snow and freezing temperatures again the next day.
You can also hear children; there is a small playground for younger, pre school children, this is fairly new. When it was first proposed there were complaints and letters to the editor that The Library Gardens were somewhere you went for peace and quiet and that would be spoilt by the constant screaming of children, but it’s there now and I don’t think it been like the end of the world.
