St Peter and St Paul at Foxearth
Stuart Bowditch
The second of two recordings responding to archival record VA 5/1/1: A Year in Foxearth, by Mr G Hastie (listen to the first recording here).
I found an interesting looking footpath leading off of School Lane, and after following it found St Peter and St Paul’s Church nestled comfortably amongst a cluster of yew and lime trees. It was a very calm and relaxing place, and I sat on a bench for a while soaking up the peacefulness amongst the gravestones.
I noticed that noon was approaching so I set up in readiness to record the clock strike 12, which it did a little early. There were a lot of jackdaws playing nearby and some gentle wind made itself known by rustling the trees. I even thought I heard the clucking of some chickens, but not that of a dog walker…perfect.
