Dawn chorus in Norsey Woods, A, 2016
The first of two recordings responding to suggestions of places to record the dawn chorus (the second is here).
I picked up my friend, and artist, Alan Hockett at 4am and we drive to Norsey Woods in Billericay. We chose this place as it is famous for its beautiful display of bluebells and thought we’d get to see them before their season was up. It was pretty dark, and slightly misty, when we arrived. We put on our walking boots and ventured into the woods. Neither of us knew where we were going but that was all part of the adventure and we followed our nose, and ears, to where we thought the birds might be. We mostly stopped next to benches, or tree stumps, so we could sit still whilst recording.
After my previous trip to record the dawn chorus we were also slightly hoping we’d hear an unknown sound from the darkness.
Please help us identify any birds you can hear in the comments below!
