Walking in a Winter Wonderland, 2018
In this recording, I was aiming to acoustically capture the many different varieties of snow, the sound equivalent of the urban legend about the multiple words that northern cultures have for the white stuff. See if you can hear soft footsteps on powdery snow; hard crunches on compact snow; and the even harder crunching when the snow had that hard, frozen layer on top that footsteps break through.
This is a compilation of clips recorded around 18:00, primarily walking through Admiral’s Park. Apologies for the odd sniffle, but this, too, after all, is a sound of winter.
When we have a heat-wave this summer (I can but hope), you can listen to this recording to cool you down.
