Austin Sevens, Clare, 2016
I wanted to record on the banks of the Stour at Clare, to get a recording as far north as I could. So I parked up in Clare Castle Country Park, which although in Suffolk is pretty close to where I wanted to be. Parked up were four Austin Sevens in a row. Their owners just happened to come along at that moment so I asked if they were going to be driving off soon, which they said they would. I asked if I could record them, to which they agreed. They even offered to drive around a bit if that would help, but I said just starting up and driving off would be fine.
They were waiting for one of their colleagues to come along so we had a chat in the meantime, but by the time he had arrived the approaching thunderstorm had arrived. Just as they were setting off a summer deluge unleashed itself on us. I protected the windshield from the large rain drops as best as I could and made a dash for the cover of my car when they had given me a friendly wave and driven off.
