Recollections of Brigadier Vaizey, 1978

Excerpts from talk given by Brigadier John Theodore de Horne Vaizey (1899-1982) to Tilbury Juxta Clare parish council meeting, 23 May 1978 (SA 24/1002/1). The talk includes recollections of his childhood at Tilbury Hall; agriculture; charitable work done by his mother; the agricultural workers’ strike at Ridgewell in 1914; and the outbreak of the First World War.
