Clip from a performance by the Essex Youth Orchestra playing Elgar’s ‘Overture Cockaigne’ at Blackshots Civic Hall in Thurrock (SA 10/1/1/7/1).
As well as this piece by Elgar, the concert included music by Matthias Georg Monn and Mussorgsky. The main feature was music composed by Stefan de Haan in memory of Nicholas Blake, formerly second oboe with the orchestra, in whose honour the concert was given.
Are similar types of concerts still held in the Hall, and do the acoustics sound the same?
