Thames side Essex: Erith Reach, Rainham Marshes, 2017

This recording is on the Waverley again, coming down from Tower Pier in Middlesex on the Kent side of the river, port is Essex, starboard Kent.

Two parts: first of all you should just about be able to hear a siren, this is from the heavy plant moving about the landfill site, there’s a break because after that it’s mostly a man on his ‘phone. The second part is Jeremey from The PSPS [Paddle Steamer Preservation Society] giving his commentary, a little bit distorted but gives you all the facts about this part of Essex. If you can also hear a rattling that is the bulbs in a light fitting vibrating, a familiar sound.
