Swift bells, 2016
Like “The Bells of Leigh-on-Sea” this was recorded in Elm Road near the junction with Queens Avenue. The bells of St Clement’s are ringing, practice this time. Coming and going with the wind, they do get particularly louder and clearer at one point.
Along with the bells you hear cars, planes, and swifts, which come down low to feed at this time of the day.
I was already late and due to head in the opposite direction when they finished but they did start again. I didn’t record them but did hear them all along Pall Mall and into Leigh Road almost to King’s Road, about three quarters of a mile distant.
Recorded around 8.30 in the evening.
