A BE2 WWI aircraft parked at Stow Maries Aerodrome

A selection of recordings made at theĀ Stow Maries Aerodrome vintage aircraft event on 14th May 2016.
I’d never been to this aerodrome before, as it is tucked away in the countryside near the small village of the same name. But I’m glad I visited on this day, as it was great to see all kinds of aircraft arriving throughout the day from other parts of the country. I’m not an aircraft enthusiast so had to rely on the expertise of the event participants, one of whom made me aware of this very helpful website, and my notebook slowly filled with the registration numbers of lots of aircraft.
It was amazing to see the amount of effort people had gone to to restore and maintain these beautiful flying machines, some of which were over 100 years old. I think the most impressive was the BE.2 (which you can see in the attached photograph), which took off and flew so elegantly whilst puffing along almost like a steam engine.
Thanks to the organisers for being so accommodating and helping me throughout the day. More recordings to follow shortly.
