Spring, Great Bardfield, 2016
I was on my way from Finchingfield to Thaxted and thought I’d grab a bite to eat in Great Bardfield. After parking my car and buying a nice cake in the Co-op, I took a walk around town. I almost instantly found the spring on Brook Street and returned with recording gear to capture the sound of it. According to the plaque on it, the structure through which the spring now emerges was built by Henry Smith in 1860, but I can find very little mention of it on the Internet, except for here.
Being lunch time, and most people wanting cakes from the Co-op (I can only presume), there were high traffic levels, which detracts somewhat from the sound of the water.
