More from the Red Sand forts, slow steaming with the hiss of the wake, commentary taking in Thames side, estuarial and coastal Essex and Kent and disappointment at not going on to the Shivering Sands. Although they are a good distance away, the tide can slow you down and some captains don’t go that close and may not even go around the towers.
