Magic City arcade, Clacton-on-Sea, 2016
You can’t go on a trip to the seaside and not go in an arcade or play on the amusements. It’s a classic holiday past time. I live in a seaside town so, obviously, I rarely go in the arcades there. But when in Clacton…
In this instance I played the tuppenny cascade. It is rather hypnotising and addictive, putting the coins in, watching them fall, the shifting shelves going back and forth, and, if you’re lucky, the falling of 2ps into the trough of champions. The bonus with the version of the game that I was playing is that every now and then you get a ticket. ‘Hello, ticket!’ You can save up the tickets to get bigger prizes. I earned 21 tickets…woo! Then I checked out the prizes and the smallest prize was for 25 tickets. The Minion called Stuart was at least a couple of thousand. So, I gave my tickets to some kids (well, their mum) to boost their collection so that they could get something slightly better (probably a minion called Stuart).
