Hot rails to...Essex, 2016
Taking the train on the C2C Line. The recording starts off just after leaving Limehouse Station, or Stepney East as was, but, whatever it’s called, it’s in Middlesex. However, the litany of names that follow are all Essex.
If I’ve worked it out properly, at about the 3 minute 22 mark the train will be on the bridge that crosses the River Lee (or Lea, also known as Bow Creek in those parts) which is the county boundary so will have passed from Middlesex into Essex.
The recording stops at West Ham shortly after, with announcements on both the platform and train for a journey which crosses the county.
There is an awful hum on this, can’t get rid of it, whether it was in the carriage, lights or PA system. The train was the 15.19 out of Fenchurch Street towards Shoeburyness.
