A127 (from Folkes Lane), 2016
The second recording in response to public suggestions that traffic noise is a ‘sound of today’. Whilst finding locations to record from, I thought it would be interesting to choose locations where large roads have cut off or through older roads or rights of way.
In this mid-afternoon recording of the A127 I was positioned at the bottom of Folkes Lane, which had been intersected by the A127 when it was built in 1924. In the photo you can see Moor Lane on the opposite side of the A127 continuing the older line. The road was less busy than the M25, which I had recorded around 20 minutes earlier, with no lorries, a few cars and a man who had broken down (not documented on this recording).
