Victoria Wharf, Leigh, 2015
Recording made at Victoria Wharf, Leigh-on-Sea. You hear a fog horn from a ship anchored in the river (Leigh Small Ships Anchorage I presume), waders and geese out on the mud, the tide was coming in I think, traffic from New Road and Leigh Hill, and trains on the C2C line (at that time of night they’ll only be coming from Leigh going to Chalkwell). This recording ended at 11.41pm.
There are two foghorns on the pier. You usually hear an electronic warble, that has a baffle board behind it so doesn’t come inland as much as it could. Every so often they seem to use the older booming bass horn, but I can’t work out any pattern.
