Thames side Essex: Sea Reach, Shell Haven, 2017
Europa 2 coming down from Tilbury after an extended stay because of high winds
Sea Reach west end, the Essex shore is industrial, Kent is agricultural.
Victor Horta coming down from Clubb's Wharf, think that is at Cliffe in Kent, the container cranes in the background are at Tilbury, in the dock and fronting Northfleet Hope
Arsland, some of the former refinery at Coryton is being converted for fuel storage and distribution.
Coming back from The Red Sand Forts at Southend Pier, PS Waverley had to go around again as the pier staff were a bit slow with the ropes, and by the time they’d secured them, it was too far off with the tide pushing it even further away; second time around one of the people from the RNLI Shop added some know how.
That meant it was late leaving and had to put on some extra revs to make up the time for Gravesend, which is what you hear here, one recording from each side.
In the photos ships sometimes make a bit of noise and container terminals have the noise of clamps going on and the crane motors whirring but it’s mainly paddle beats here.
