Point Clear, 2016
The first recording of my week long trip to Tendring (see Tendring Trip #tag) and I thought I’d start at the most westerly point on the coast and work my way east.
As is always the way with arriving somewhere new, I am never that comfortable straight away. There are so many variables in the landscape, weather and local community that I’m not sure how the land lies or how welcome I’ll be. To get to Point Clear you have to drive through St.Osyth, three miles out the other side, across a dam, through many mobile homes, past a Martello tower and eventually over the sea wall onto the grass and sand beyond. There were plenty of vehicles already here, many of them with boat trailers, and it was a beautifully warm day on which to go sailing. Three men were at the shore having just returned from a trip in their small dingy, which they were bringing ashore with their ford Transit and trailer. Neither them, or the other passers by seemed the least bit bothered by my presence, so that was a good start to the trip.
Shame you can’t really make out the Brightlingsea Ferry which passed by on it’s way from Mersea and a few other boats heading to the moorings.
