Midnight on Jaywick Beach, 2016
I met up with Simon, a resident of Jaywick, at 10pm outside the chip shop. We spent several hours walking and talking and he gave me a great insight to the local area and its people. Such is the closeness of the community in Jaywick he recognised some of the other locals in the pitch dark (I could only make out a silhouette) on the coastal path as we walked to a spot on the beach where he spends many hours enjoying the peace and solitude.
We sat in silence, amongst the prickly grasses, listening to the waves and hum from the offshore windfarm, looking at the stars and lights out at sea, contemplating life and the space time continuum.
