Since I was staying in B&B’s on this trip dinner time meant finding a good pub for some food and a local ale, which in this case was The Swan at the top of the hill in Thaxted. I found a table next to a window so I could watch the world go by outside and see the goings on inside the pub. The only trouble was that after a while I noticed a bad hum. In fact the bass from the hum was getting trapped in the corner where I was sitting and started to become really annoying. I’d ordered my food by this time and didn’t want to cause confusion by moving to another table, so I sat it out…and recorded it.
Only later, when the bar maid opened the fridge to get out some wine, and the hum changed, did I realised it was that appliance that was creating the sound. When she closed the door the hum reverted to its original tone. See if you can hear the moment in which this happens!
