Forest Noise
Birdsong, children playing, and distant traffic noises in the forest
Recorded at around 3:30 pm whilst on a walk in Highwoods Country Park with Photographer Joe-Elliot Purtell. Microphones were configured in a 110 degree ORTF stereo array.
This recording contains sounds of crows and other woodland birds being rather noisy, and the occasional jogger or dog-walker passing by. The weather was warm, and it was a sunny day. In the distance is the sound of children and dogs playing deeper in the woods. This helps define the space and acoustics of place.

These birds certainly wanted to be heard, didn’t they?
